AFTER ARTHROSCOPY

Carry out 100 straight leg raises per day, 20 at a time, with a rest of at least 20 minutes between sets. Sitting on a bed or chair, lift your foot up into the air, count to 5, then slowly lower your leg. When resting keep your leg straight and not in a bent position.

At 24 hours remove the outer bandage, leaving plastic dressings and apply the tubigrip provided

You may require pain relief over the first 48 hours. Take anti inflammatories daily for thirty days. If you require further pain relief see your local doctor.

Ice knee for 20 minutes three times per day (ice bag).

You may shower the leg if plastic dressings are applied. Otherwise do not wet wounds until your first postoperative visit.

See Dr Wood at The Mater Clinic, Rocklands Rd, Crows Nest 10 – 14 days after surgery on a Monday morning in the 1st Postoperative Clinic.
